ExxonMobil business units in Singapore swept three gold awards at the Ministry of Manpower’s Annual Safety Performance Award 2003.
Singapore Refinery’s Jurong Island site, Jurong Terminal (Lubricants) and Singapore Aromatics Recovery each won a gold. Singapore Chemical Plant won a silver while the Refinery’s Jurong site won a merit prize.
This was the first time since the Exxon-Mobil merger that the Refinery submitted for the award.
However, Jurong Island site had previously won three golds as well as the top award, the OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) Excellence Award. For Jurong Terminal, this was the second consecutive gold following three earlier silvers.
Singapore Refinery Manager Steve Blume said: “This award will place us together with other industries and companies in Singapore and we will definitely be better the next time."
Dr. Ng Eng Hen, acting Minister for Manpower, presented the awards.
