Overview
ExxonMobil conducts its business activities in India via three wholly owned subsidiaries, which are companies incorporated in India.

ExxonMobil Company India Private Limited has actively developed the market for ExxonMobil specialty chemicals and polymers since May 1996.

The Lubricants business is currently conducted by ExxonMobil Lubricants Private Limited. Mobil-branded lubricants have been manufactured, marketed and sold in India since 1993 while Esso-branded lubricants have been in the market since 1995.

ExxonMobil Gas (India) Private Limited primarily supports Gas Marketing to India by different Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply projects, in which ExxonMobil has an equity interest.

  • Chemical

ExxonMobil Company India Private Limited (EMCIPL) was set up since May 1996. Prior to that, Chemical's interest was handled by a liaison office since 1985.

EMCIPL's major activities include: 

    • Market development, application technology, support and soliciting business for ExxonMobil's chemical products to customers and distributors in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
    • Application Technology Development Service for Butyl and Specialty Ethylene Elastomers for the entire Asia Pacific region from the Research & Development Technology Centre in Bangalore.
    • Solicit technology licensing for a broad range of petrochemical processes from aromatics to olefins and polymers. Also, for the refining technologies covering the full range of both fuels and lubricants refining.
    • Customer Service activities to customers across the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and African countries.

EMCIPL has a registered office in Mumbai, with  regional offices in Delhi, Calcutta and a Research & Development facility in Bangalore.

  • Lubricants

ExxonMobil Lubricants Private Limited (EMLPL) (previously named “Indo Mobil Limited”) was established in March 1994 to handle the manufacture and sale of lubricants.

Operations include lubricant oil blending, packaging, distribution and marketing with a growing premium finished lubricants products.

Product range covers passenger vehicle lubricants / commercial vehicle lubricants / industrial lubricants / marine lubricants and greases.

EMLPL’s head office is in Gurgaon (Haryana) and its regional office in Mumbai. Production is through a toll blending plant in Taloja (near Mumbai). The distribution is supported by five Regional Distribution Centres.

EMLPL has approximately 100 employees.

  • Gas Marketing

ExxonMobil Gas India Private Limited (EMGIPL), a fully owned subsidiary, was established in India in May 2003.

EMGIPL's major activities include:

    • Support RasGas’ (a 70/30 Joint Venture company between Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil respectively) ongoing business with Petronet LNG consisting of a 25-year LNG supply contract for 7.5 MTA, as well as additional short term or spot sales.
    • Support the marketing initiatives from the Australian supply project Gorgon LNG and Papua New Guinea-based PNG LNG with Petronet LNG.
    • Support ExxonMobil Exploration and Gas & Power Marketing New Business Development in their efforts to capture new business opportunities.
    • Identify and develop other business opportunities for ExxonMobil in India.
