Overview
ExxonMobil and its associated companies offer a wide range of lubricants and chemicals under the ExxonMobil and Mobil brands in South Korea. It also has a Gas Marketing entity which started in 1990.

Mobil Korea Lube Oil Inc. (MKLOI) was established in 1973 with its Ulsan Lubricant Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) completed in 1978. ExxonMobil Chemical Korea  (EMCK) began operations in 1977 while ExxonMobil Korea Inc. (EMKI), our gas marketing entity, started in 1990. In 1977, Esso Petroleum Korea Ltd. (EPKL) was established to market and sell Esso lubricants, and EPKL took over ExxonMobil Chemical product sales in 1999.

Currently, some 120 ExxonMobil and associated companies' employees and contractors work out of four main offices located within Seoul and Ulsan.

Activities

• Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties

MKLOI manufactures, markets and sells Mobil branded lubricants to all market segments and also exports some products to overseas affiliates. Products include Mobil 1 as well as a range of Passenger, Commerical Vehicle and Industrial Lubricants. In the marine sector, Mobil lubricants are being marketed and supplied to Korean as well as international visiting ships at key ports in Korea.

Achievements and contributions
The Lubricants and Specialties lubricant blending facility received the Global Flawless Operations Award for five consecutive years since 2003 for outstanding achievements in Safety, Health and Environment.

• Gas & Power Marketing

EMKI supports ExxonMobil and LNG production and supply co-ventures in marketing LNG and implementation of existing contracts, such as market studies, regulatory related activities and facilitation of meetings and government to government interactions. Also, it coordinates general ExxonMobil site activities, such as security, safety and public affairs areas. Currently LNG production and supply co-ventures where ExxonMobil has equities, supply nearly 35% of Korea's LNG demand.

EMCK actively sells all ExxonMobil Chemical products via indent sales mode.

Products include:

• Basic Chemicals Products
• Polymer Products
• Intermediates Products
• Battery Separator Film for Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Batteries

Li-Ion Battery Separator film will be manufactured in Gumi late 2009 in the name of Tonen Specialty Separator Korea, an affiliate company of ExxonMobil, to meet growing demand of Li-Batteries for Electric applications as well as (Hybrid) Electric Vehicles.
