Music and fun on campus

Timbre musicfest

August 27, 2008

The latest season of ExxonMobil Campus Concerts kicked off on August 27 with Timbre MusicFest on Campus, a collaboration with Timbre – the eclectic music bar at The Arts House and The Substation.

This year’s performers are a solid mix of local and overseas artistes, coupled with talents from the National University of Singapore (NUS) community and NUS alumni. The opening night featured performances by 53A (Singapore), Blue Shaddy (Australia), Rick Steele (Australia), Reverie & Rene (Singapore), The Soulfellas (Singapore) and ublues (Singapore/Australia).

“The Opening Show was a night of great music and fun for all, especially undergrads returning to campus,” said Public Affairs Advisor Selene Chan. “Timbre lined up wonderful artistes while its catering arm faced the challenge of bringing its famous pizzas to the University Cultural Centre (UCC), going so far as to bring over ovens and assorted equipment (in the rain!) so that the audience would really enjoy themselves!"

“The staff of the NUS Centre For the Arts focused on putting together an event which appealed to the NUS community and public seeking to unwind after a long day of classes or work. Extras like glow bracelets and lucky draws prizes were finishing touches that sustained a sense of fun and excitement.”

"We are glad to work with our longstanding partner, ExxonMobil, and new ones like Timbre. We hope that through this event, we can reach out to people living near campus as well as entice faithful supporters of Timbre to a new performance venue at the UCC." – Ms. Yeow Ju Li, Deputy Director, NUS Centre For the Arts

The concert season ran until October, during which performances were held regularly at the UCC and other parts of campus such as cafes, forums, dance studios and museums. Campus Concerts started in 1984 and the series has been sponsored by ExxonMobil Singapore since 1986.
