ExxonMobil organises first joint public blood drive with Pan Pacific Singapore

Singapore, 19 September, 2006 – ExxonMobil and Pan Pacific Singapore are jointly organising a public blood donation exercise on Sat 23 Sep 2006 at the Pan Pacific Singapore. This is the first time two blood mobile organisers are coming together to organise this meaningful exercise, in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross.

Mr. Kwa Chong Seng, Chairman and Managing Director, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., said: “ExxonMobil has been organising public blood drives since 2003, and we are happy to have the support of Pan Pacific Singapore this year. We recognise the importance of encouraging the public to donate blood to save lives. As a member of the Singapore community, we support initiatives like this which benefit the community as a whole.”

ExxonMobil is the single largest corporate blood drive organiser to date, and in 2005, the company collected 1,128 units of blood. ExxonMobil started employee blood donation drives in 1999 as part of the effort to encourage its employees to play a meaningful role in the society. Initially the drives were held at the refinery and chemical plant. In 2003, the company started organising public blood drives and more venues were added. These included shopping centres like IMM and WestMall in the South West District, ExxonMobil’s neighbours in Jurong and downtown offices in the HarbourFront area.

For this year, the ExxonMobil blood drives are held over six days from 12 – 23 Sep 2006. The drives are open to the public on 12, 16 and 23 Sep 2006 at HarbourFront, WestMall and Pan Pacific Singapore respectively.
