SINGAPORE – About 600 ExxonMobil employees and their family members will be going the distance for the Society for the Physically Disabled this year at its annual running carnival on Saturday (10 September).
Participating ExxonMobil employees, their family members and their friends, with matching funds from ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, have raised over $36,000 for the society to provide rehabilitation subsidies for those with physical disabilities.
Mr Georges Grosliere, venture director of the second petrochemical project and management sponsor of the company’s running club,said: “We are pleased that through the participation of our employees, their families and their friends this year, we are also able to support for those with physical disabilities and make a positive impact on their lives.”
Ms Loi Boon Lee, director of community partnerships at the Society for the Physically Disabled said: “SPD relies on the support of the community to provide programmes and services for people with disabilities to maximise their potential to be self-reliant and independent. We are grateful to ExxonMobil for raising funds to provide rehabilitation subsidies for people with physical disabilities, and hope that more will step forward to extend their support.”
Participants in “Running for a Cause” will be running one of three distances at 2km, 5km or 9km, under various categories. For every employee who had registered and donated a minimum sum of $10 to take part, ExxonMobil matched their donations dollar-for-dollar.
